Let’s use our brain to listen to our body ✨
If you’re disconnected from your body’s intuition, your brain can help
Hello! This week we’re talking about intuition.
In my eating disorder, I saw my brain as my best friend and my body as an unfortunate and chaotic sidekick. As a result, I was rude and dismissive to this amazing body that has seen me through everything in life.
To read what I wrote about this last week, go here:
My brain is loud and assertive while my body whispers and sighs. I have to intentionally make time to listen to my body’s needs because if I’m not careful my brain will shove my sweet body aside, silencing it because it’s too inconvenient to take the time to listen. We’re working on it!
In recovery, instead of following strict dietary rules, I ask my brain to listen for my body’s hunger and appetite cues. Instead of insisting my body perform high-intensity workouts with no excuses, I ask my brain to respect my body’s desire to move the way it wants to move. Not everyone is the same, so please consider how this might apply to your situation.
This week, consider whether you can ask your brain to listen more carefully for your body’s intuition. What gets in the way of hearing your body’s wisdom and needs? What can you do to be more intentional about tuning into your body?
