Hello! This week we’re talking about blaming our bodies for everything.
When I blamed all my problems on my body and believed I would find happiness by changing my body, I was living in a dreamworld. Because no matter how much I changed my body, I was still, well, me! The same person is living inside of me no matter what I look like on the outside.Â
In recovery, I decided to start identifying meaningful problems and going after them with methods that had nothing to do with changing how my body looks. I can’t say it’s been easy, but it’s been worth it!Â
This weekend, consider whether you’re trying to solve for happiness, love, and meaning by changing your body. Remember that there’s no shame if you are. We were taught to do this through decades of explicit and implicit messages. But just because we believe something today doesn’t mean that belief has to control us next month. We can change our minds!Â
